China’s radio telescope detects first persistently active repeating fast radio burst from 3b light years away

An international team led by Chinese scientists discovered and located the first persistently active repeating fast radio burst (FRB) with the help of the world's largest radio telescope, China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), which indicated the evolution of FRBs and may help scientists understand the origin of the brightest radio waves emanating from billions of light years outside the galaxy. The new FRB, named FRB190520B, was discovered in a metal-poor dwarf galaxy 3 billion light years away.

在世界最大单口径射电望远镜——中国500米口径球面射电望远镜的帮助下，一个由中国科学家带领的国际团队发现并定位了第一个持续活跃的重复快速射电暴。这一发现显示出了重复快速射电暴的演变过程，或有助于科学家了解这来自星系外数十亿光年的最亮无线电波的起源。新发现的快速射电暴位于一个距离地球30亿光年的贫金属矮星系，被命名为FRB190520B。
